Explore Arizona with me.

For over eight years, I lived overseas with my wife, Christie. When we set out on the journey, we were just dating. In Thailand we got married. And over the years we added a couple of kids to the family. For us, home was Jordan, the Dominican Republic and Brazil, with lots of travel in between.

Then in the summer of 2023 we moved back home to the United States. She's from Miami. I'm from near Akron, Ohio. But we didn't go to either of those places. We decided to settle down in Tucson, Arizona, and discover what it's like to live in the American West.

Why Tucson Dispatch?

I'm a journalist and entrepreneur, and I run a digital news startup back in Ohio called The Portager. (More about me here.) But I wanted to connect more deeply to my new home and share what I've learned along the way. As a journalist, my goal is to publish something for you that's useful and informative. And having lived in so many places, I can bring a unique perspective. Tucsonans come from everywhere, too.

What you'll find here

Tucson Dispatch is a source for information and honest reviews about living in Tucson and traveling the Southwest. You'll find everything from restaurant and golf course reviews to advice on neighborhoods and buying a house in Tucson. You'll find how-to guides for things like skiing at Arizona Snowbowl and visiting the Grand Canyon. We'll visit small towns, breweries, trails and mountain ranges. If it's something a Tucson resident or visitor might want to know, I'm writing about it.
